The Devoted Heart regularly receives new wards. Many of them are already weakened by life on the streets. To protect them from dangerous infections, we definitely vaccinate them.
Vaccines protect against: panleukopenia, a feline plague that is especially deadly to kittens; calicivirus, which causes mouth ulcers and severe pneumonia; and viral rhinotracheitis, which affects the respiratory tract and eyes.
These diseases spread easily among cats and, without vaccination, can cause an outbreak in a shelter. Only the vaccine gives you a chance to avoid trouble: within 21 days after vaccination, a stable immune system is formed for at least a year.
We are raising funds for 75 doses of Felocel to protect our wards — 75 toddlers and adult animals.
