For many years, the Pomogi.org Foundation has supported talented children from large and disadvantaged families with scholarships that they can spend on their education. It is not easy to grow up successful and discover their talents when all the money in the family is spent on life. Kids do well in school, become an asset to their schools and neighborhoods, but fail to compete with other graduates for admission to universities simply because their parents have not had as many opportunities to create the conditions for them to develop and prepare for exams.
The cost of one hour of classes with a tutor - about 1,200 rubles, one month of classes in a science club - about 3,000 rubles, depending on the region - this is a lot if you need not one child, but, for example, five. Sometimes in a large family of 10 students there is only one computer, and to prepare homework for it you have to take a queue. And if a student has health problems, the first thing they do is spend resources on treatment.
The fact that kids are doing well in such conditions makes them real heroes in our eyes and shows that they can have a great future if we help them. Many of the recipients of the fund, who were able to buy a personal computer, pay for additional classes and books, are now becoming good doctors, teachers, lawyers and programmers. And once they felt the power of support, they are now helping their families and other children from large families.
