Yusuf is a very kind, cheerful, and happy boy. He loves swinging, listening to stories, playing in the water, and listening to the piano for long periods of time.
Yusuf was born prematurely. In the first few days, doctors couldn't even give a definitive prognosis. A few months later, the boy was diagnosed with a severe form of retinopathy of prematurity, which seriously damaged both eyes.
Over the course of four years, Yusuf has undergone twelve eye surgeries. Thanks to surgical treatment, he was able to preserve his vision, but after a severe injury and hemorrhage, his eye condition worsened.
Now the boy moves carefully, navigating primarily by sound. He has difficulty speaking, walking independently, and playing without adult assistance. Yusuf is diligently studying with a speech therapist and undergoing ABA therapy. He plans to start kindergarten very soon.
Complications of retinopathy continue to require the intervention of ophthalmologists. Yusuf is currently scheduled for another surgery. During the operation, doctors will perform treatment inside the eye and remove pathologically altered tissue. This is necessary to preserve its anatomy and condition for further recovery.
His mother always accompanies her son during the surgery. The family lives very modestly, and the parents can no longer afford the treatment themselves.
