At three, Sofia was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor.
Sofia underwent urgent surgery to remove the tumor at the Burdenko Scientific and Research Center. In June 2018 a new blow - the tumor continues to grow, again surgery and severe complications. Sofia was taken from the hospital in a wheelchair, the girl ate only through a tube, the left side of her body was paralyzed. Sofia had two more operations, during which she was placed on the special plates on the damaged vertebrae.
Now Sofia is dynamically monitored, the growth of the tumor stopped. But there are still complications after the hard treatment. The girl has an unsteady, staggering gait. Sofia has poor balance while walking, and goes up stairs only with support. Her left leg and arm don't obey her well. The girl needs regular sessions with neuropsychologists, instructors of physical therapy and other specialists.
Experienced specialists at the rehabilitation center are ready to help Sofia regain a confident gait and coordination of her left leg and arm.
But her mother cannot pay the course herself, she is raising her daughter on her own.
