Russia has quite harsh winters, so not all homeless animals survive until spring. The only shelters that allow cats to survive in urban conditions in winter are the basements of buildings.
But few people think about what happens to the cats that live in the basements of buildings that are subject to demolition. You are lucky if the four-legged animals run away from the place due to the loud noise, but there are also those who remain in the shelter. And sometimes basements are simply walled up.
