For 11 years, Vera has been caring for her severely ill son with cerebral palsy. She and her husband wanted the boy to be able to walk. He has already undergone two surgeries, and a third was supposed to take place in the fall. However, due to Vera's stroke, these plans are currently unable to materialize.
The stroke occurred at the end of summer, paralyzing Vera and causing her to lose speech. For a month and a half, Vera was in an apathetic and depressive state, a common condition after a stroke. Comprehensive rehabilitation, involving specialists in rehabilitation, movement, speech, occupational therapy, and psychology, played a crucial role in her recovery. Motivated to restore herself, Vera started by simply standing and is now taking her first steps with a walker. Though she doesn't speak yet, she is beginning to comprehend spoken language and is attempting to produce initial sounds.
The family has exhausted all resources for recovery, the husband resigned to care for both close ones. Vera's mother found a part-time job to support her daughter's family. Resources are running out, but Vera needs to continue treatment. She can stand and move independently, and she can start to speak. Achieving these goals will allow her to care for her son again, and then their plan to help their son walk may come true!
