San Sanych is an elderly man who showed up at the Charity Clinic in December with severe trophic wounds. This cold winter he had been living in shelters and on the street. Doctors of the Charity Clinic hospitalized San Sanych in the City Hospital - because of frostbite he had to have part of his leg amputated again.
To prevent San Sanych from being on the street again, the doctors agreed to hospitalize him in the Palliative Care Center of the Republic of Karelia, where San Sanych has a residence permit. There the man will be able to be treated, and after that - to get a long-term stay in a shelter.
“I will dream about Karelia for a long time, I will dream about the lashes of pointed fir trees over the blue eyes of lakes - remember, there was a song like that?”
On the way San Sanych tells about his life - that he was born in the Urals, in 20 years moved to Karelia, for some time lived and worked as a janitor in Valaam - “the nature there is beautiful, secluded, and it is good to think”.
The road to the hospital took 8 hours. In Karelia they welcomed him warmly - for San Sanych they prepared a bright room with a TV, took his tests and lifted him to the floor. The doctors of the Charity Hospital gave him tea with wickets and wished him a good return trip.
