Arjuna lives in a small village in Buryatia. She has six children, the youngest son is 3 years old. Arjuna has always worked hard, but now she does housework for her large family.
In the autumn of 2023, she began to feel unwell, weakness prevented her from doing her usual chores. She went to the district centre to see a GP and had a blood test. Later, she received a call from the hospital and was asked to come urgently, voicing the diagnosis ‘Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia’. After the initial shock, Arjuna and her family decided not to give up and started treatment in Ulan-Ude. There she underwent the first course of chemotherapy. Now the treatment continues in St. Petersburg, at the Almazov NMIC of the Russian Ministry of Health.
For successful treatment, Arjuna needs a course of expensive drugs, which she cannot buy on her own - the cost is too high for a family from a small Buryat village.
