A number of complex heart defects and coronary vessels were found in the heart of two-month-old Khalid. Without surgical intervention, this could have had tragic consequences. The primary goal of cardiac surgeons was to reduce blood pressure in the pulmonary circulation. This effect is achieved by performing an operation to narrow the pulmonary artery using the Muller method. The operation does not eliminate heart defects, such as defects in the septa between the chambers of the heart, but it equalizes the load on the heart muscles. During this operation, it was decided to eliminate another defect - an abnormal narrowing of the pulmonary artery in another part - so as not to open the chest twice. As a result of the surgical intervention, the blood circulation problems were partially eliminated. We cannot say that the boy immediately felt better, as was often the case in our practice. The body's reaction to the surgical intervention was complex, neurological problems arose. Because of this, Khalid spent another two months in the intensive care unit.
