Five-year-old Mehrona doesn't know what it is to play catch-up, to ride on swings in such a breathtaking way. Such ordinary childhood joys are forbidden to her - her heart may not be able to take it. While her brothers and sisters are running in the yard, playing ball, she only sadly watches them.
The little girl has a complex heart defect from birth - a single aortic valve, and other anomalies of the heart muscle. The heart can not provide the necessary intensity of blood circulation. As a result, oxygen starvation of organs and tissues develops, toxins accumulate in the body, respiration and metabolism are disturbed. Mehrona's heart is working at the limit of its capacity. If surgery is not performed soon, it may not be able to cope.
Mehrona was born in a small Tajik village. Her parents learnt about her daughter's heart defect as soon as she was born. But it was impossible to perform the operation in their home country. There was no such experience among doctors, no necessary equipment. In desperation, the grandfather brought his beloved granddaughter to Russia, hoping for help from Russian doctors.
