For many years Kristina has been exploring Kamchatka and showing it to tourists. Christina has recently been diagnosed with blood cancer and we are raising funds for a course of therapy. More than anything, she dreams of getting well and returning to the best place on Earth for her - the Pacific Ocean.
Christina was born in Kurgan, later her family moved to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Christina grew up as a curious, positive child, and remains so at the age of 37. She graduated from university in St. Petersburg and became a linguist, worked as a translator in Finland and Denmark, and also explored her native Kamchatka and showed it to others.
Less than a year ago Kristina fell ill: she had a fever for over a week, shortness of breath and weakness. Christina went to the doctor and fainted on the threshold of the office. The therapist took all the necessary tests and sent the girl to the haematology department. The examinations showed that Christina had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia - blood cancer.
She took the news calmly, as she knew what kind of disease it was. But for Christina's parents it was a real blow - it is still very difficult for them to accept their daughter's illness.
Now Christina is undergoing a course of therapy. The problem is that she cannot get the medicine she needs for free, and the girl's family is unable to pay for it.
After recovery she dreams to return to her family, to her favourite job and to the best place on Earth for her - the Pacific Ocean. Let's help Christina cope with her illness!
