Andrey was born with a weight of 1760 g and a height of 44 cm. The boy began to hold his head closer to 6 months, and rolled over on his stomach only after a year. At 11 months, Andrei was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
The biggest difficulty in the boy's physical development was learning to walk. In an upright position, his foot did not fall on his heel. When Andrew was 5 years old, he underwent Achillotomy surgery on both legs – a procedure to lengthen the Achilles tendon.
After that, the boy's foot began to fall on his heel, and by the age of 6, he learned to take independent steps. However, his gait was still wobbly. To improve it, constant rehabilitation is needed.
In the summer of this year, the boy underwent a selective dorsal rhizotomy, after which a positive trend was noted. Andrey became more active and easier to move his legs. But to achieve the maximum effect, intensive rehabilitation and regular home exercises are necessary in the first year after surgery. It is important to learn new skills and form the correct walking stereotype during this period.
Now Andrey is 10 years old. He is in the 3rd grade homeschooled, a very sociable and inquisitive boy. Intensive rehabilitation will help Andrey achieve success in the formation of the most physiologically correct gait.
Let's help the boy walk confidently and even run!
