Vika's first word was "mama." On the one hand, there's nothing surprising about that; this is a common milestone in every child's life. However, for Vika, it was only possible at the age of 8 due to her having cerebral palsy and speech impairments.
Unfortunately, Vika's biological mother was overwhelmed by the many diagnoses and abandoned her right after birth. As a result, the girl was left alone, without the necessary attention and medical care, leading to a loss of an entire year crucial for her development.
But Vika was fortunate. At the age of one, she was welcomed into the family of Anna, who became her adoptive mother and loved her as her own. For the past seven years, Anna has tirelessly fought for Vika's health. During this time, a lot has been accomplished: Anna regularly takes Vika to therapy sessions and actively works with her at home. While Vika could only lie down before, she is now trying to take her first, albeit very hesitant, steps.
"Mom" is currently the only word that Vika is able to say. Helping her learn to speak is an essential task that cannot be postponed. In order to develop her speech skills and thinking, it is crucial to start therapy sessions with a speech therapist as soon as possible.
