Nastya is learning to walk and build a new life after a serious injury

Nastya is a graduate of an orphanage who was struck by a train last year. Since then, she has undergone several surgeries and a long period of rehabilitation. Throughout, volunteers and her mentor have stood by her, offering practical help and steady encouragement. Today, Nastya can walk with a walker. It’s a major milestone that gives her real independence: she can move around her apartment on her own and even go outside for walks. “I visited Nastya recently, and we took a short walk. You can see how determined she is—taking steps with the walker and celebrating every bit of progress. She’s doing great,” says Olga, her mentor.
