Most of the children being treated in Moscow are from the regions of Russia and CIS countries. These are children with the most severe diagnoses who could not be helped at their place of residence. Accommodation is necessary when the child is not hospitalised. Most families do not have the financial ability to rent a flat in Moscow. In order to help these families, the Foundation created the Cozy Home project, which rents flats for families to live in near Moscow hospitals.
One of these flats was the home of Lyonya, who had been waiting for a kidney transplant for 2 years.
Recently, Lyonya underwent a successful operation and he and his mum returned home.
‘Thanks to the Cosy Home project, we were not locked in hospital walls, but lived in a beautiful flat provided by the Foundation. The flat had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
We were not tied to the hospital regime, the child could walk and play whenever he wanted. While waiting for the operation Lyonya lived a full life, thank you for this, because my son will not have a second childhood’, - says Elena, the boy's mum.
