The funds you donated made it possible to pay the salaries of the social workers at the Supported Living House in the village of Razdolye, in the Leningrad Region. It is home to people with severe disabilities — ten "brave and courageous souls." We'd like to share some news from the lives of the people in our care.
These past few months have been full of events. The staff and residents entered Lent together — a quiet time in our project, devoted to preparing oneself and one's surroundings for the celebration of Christ's Resurrection at Easter. Everyone fasted as they were able: Dina, for instance, gave up meat entirely, and Kostya gave up his favorite treat. The most steadfast among them — and that was the majority — attended the midnight Easter service, took part in the sacraments, and had their Easter eggs and kulichi blessed.
By tradition, our project celebrates the birthdays of both staff and residents with great warmth. Kostya's birthday in early May was an especially memorable occasion. The celebration was combined with the opening of an exhibition of his artwork, and many guests came. Sergey, who recently moved here from a residential institution, celebrated his first birthday in Razdolye. He was overjoyed, welcoming guests and receiving gifts. Seryozha is growing stronger and coming into his own here in our project, and we share in his joy.
And of course, there were outings to visit friends, various events, rehearsals, doctor's appointments, and much more.
Пусть всё будет хорошо 🤲
