Salim has an autism spectrum disorder and mental retardation. By the age of 2, the boy did not respond to the name, was not interested in toys and did not speak.
During rehabilitation, the PECS alternative communication system was introduced to Salim by a behavioral analyst, and now the boy can request motivational items using special cards. In addition, the AVA specialist emphasized motor imitation and independent execution of instructions with and without an object. Work was also actively carried out on developing listener behavior, now Salim knows how to wait and "sit beautifully".
A specialist in sensory integration selected a special set of exercises for the boy to improve the child's sensory perception: tactile, visual, olfactory, vestibular. Thanks to the lessons he completed, Salim learned how to swing on a swing and at the same time play ladushki, independently go through a special obstacle course, climb stairs.
Also, as part of his rehabilitation, Salim underwent a course of correction of his motor and cognitive abilities using the Tomatis hardware technique. Upon completion of this course, the boy's coordination and motor functions improved, and his communication skills improved.
