Every animal that enters our shelter undergoes mandatory treatment, vaccination and, of course, sterilization. But there is one more crucial step that protects it even after release - chipping. The microchip is the size of a grain of rice, it is inserted subcutaneously. It does not disturb the animal, does not require batteries and lasts a lifetime. The chip has a unique number that is entered into a federal database along with data about the animal, its history, sterilization, and vaccinations.
If the animal is lost, it can be identified and returned home. The chip is proof that the animal has already been sterilized and does not need to be recaptured. This is a step towards civilized registration and regulation of the number of animals, especially in cities, where it is important to separate shelter wards, pets and neglected animals.
At the shelter we already chip dogs and cats before release or adoption, but the stock of chips is rapidly running out and the flow of animals does not stop. Therefore, we need a new shipment of microchips to continue to do responsible and transparent work to rescue and manage the animal population.
