The story of 9-year-old Ashura from Dagestan, like that of many sick children, began with a difficult birth.
The foetus was born weighing only 1,100 grams.
Her mother noticed the girl was not developing as usual, she was not holding her head. But doctors calmed her down, saying "it will catch up", referring to the fact that the baby was premature. But later the problems became obvious and she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Due to mother's tireless efforts today the girl is making great progress: she is crawling, walking along the support or holding hands, sitting independently.
Her mother hopes that she will walk on her own! In the meantime she needs to be treated and taken to rehabilitations.
For that she needs a light, comfortable pram.
She also needs a wheelchair for everyday life: for walks and school. The diagnosis of cerebral palsy has not been a hindrance to the girl's development. Her studies are difficult, but she does her best: she can add numbers and write. She has also made friends at school, which makes her relatives very happy!
The poor family cannot afford a wheelchair. Her mother takes care of her daughter and doesn't work, her father takes on any part-time job: construction worker, loader.
