Gamid has learned to sit up on his own and find children's channels on TV

"We have such progress that we're almost afraid to be happy. Little Gamid has started sitting up on his own, he has more sounds and syllables, he's become more balanced and cheerful, and most importantly – his comprehension of speech addressed to him has improved. It's become much easier to communicate with him now!" – these are the achievements the mother of four-year-old Gamid, Umuzhat Manapova from Dagestan, shared about her son. She is very grateful to all the donors who helped fund an important course of treatment, raising money for the boy's rehabilitation at the National Medical Research Center for Health in Moscow. Gamid has cerebral palsy and psycho-speech development delay, as well as spastic tetraparesis level IV. Due to severe muscle spasms, he cannot yet stand or walk. However, after the rehabilitation course, he learned to sit up on his own, leaning on one arm, and to kneel – previously he could only sit. Special cheek massage and sessions with a speech therapist helped the little one master his speech apparatus: he doesn't pronounce words yet, only says "mama," but with sounds he clearly makes it known when he wants to say "no" or when he needs something. "Gamid has fallen in love with music. Now he flips through TV channels with the remote control himself until he finds ones with children's songs – he stops on those. Before, he wasn't interested. He repeats movements to some songs. When they sing 'clap your hands,' he claps," shares the inspired mother. Gamid has also begun responding more consciously to the world around him. When leaving somewhere, he no longer needs to be reminded to say goodbye – he waves his little hand and blows an air kiss on his own. The confidence that he is understood makes the child calmer, and his improving control over his own body makes him more active and curious. Of course, there is still a lot of work ahead for little Gamid, but the main thing is that he is gradually moving forward, reinforcing each success with a happy smile.
