Karina is an orphan from birth. Her mother never cradled her in her arms; it was always different attentive but unfamiliar adults. Despite this, the first word the girl uttered was "Mama." She called every nanny, nurse, and any woman passing by that word.
Now Karina is 8 years old; she has been in a foster family for 2 years, and she has a real mother. But the girl cannot say this word out loud. After entering the family, she became withdrawn, as if she had closed herself off from everyone and is afraid to show her vulnerability.
The psychologist explains that this often happens to children who, after a long time in an institution, enter a family: they close themselves off and fear being abandoned again.
Karina needs sessions with a psychologist to open up and believe that family is forever, that now she can be open and loved. Our psychologists encounter such cases very often.
Please help us pay for the psychologist's work for children in foster families!
