Hadicha is seven years old and battling bone cancer.
Last fall, she developed general weakness and pain in her left shin. The outpatient clinic examined her and suspected cancer. A tissue sample was sent to the Blokhin Scientific and Research Center of Oncology, where a definitive diagnosis of chondroblastic osteosarcoma was made.
Treatment for osteosarcoma is divided into three stages: preoperative chemotherapy, removal of the malignancy, and postoperative chemotherapy.
Relatives, friends and compatriots helped pay for the initial courses of chemotherapy. Khadicha spent two months in the hospital, preparing for surgery, which was ultimately successful. The tumor was removed.
Now the girl needs post-operative chemotherapy. Khadicha comes from a family with many children, and treatment for foreigners must be paid for. The family can no longer afford to pay the expenses themselves and is asking for help from people who care.
The worst for Khadicha is over. She was in a wheelchair until chemotherapy, but the treatment put her back on her feet. She is walking again, but the disease is not completely gone. She needs our support in her final push. The final course of chemotherapy will help consolidate the results and minimize the risk of recurrence.
Hadichi has many plans for the future. Although she is only seven, she dreams of becoming a doctor and treating children with similar diagnosis. She wants to return soon to her favorite activities: drawing, exercising, reading. Even in the hospital she dances and enjoys every day.
