Nastya was the long-awaited third child in the family. In her first year, she began crawling, walking, and smiling on time. However, after a year, her parents noticed that Nastya had stopped mastering new skills. Speech never developed, and by the age of two, it was clear that her problems were serious. She gravitated toward other children but didn't understand how to interact with them.
At three and a half years old, Nastya had her first epileptic seizure. Her parents were horrified: their cheerful daughter screamed in pain, and they were unable to help her. Nastya is now six years old. She remains cheerful and active, but her illness is progressing: her seizures have become more severe, accompanied by loss of consciousness, and after a seizure, Nastya loses the ability to walk for several hours. She barely speaks, can't dress herself, and is unaware of danger.
Doctors recommend genetic testing—without it, it is impossible to find the cause of her epilepsy and choose a treatment. It is possible that Nastya has a rare syndrome that requires specialized therapy. But the testing is expensive, and the family can't cope without help. Genetic testing will give the girl a chance at a full future.
