Irina has autism; she was diagnosed quite recently, a year ago. However, since birth, neurologists diagnosed sensorimotor alalia and a delay in psychoverbal development. For several years, Irina regularly worked with special education and speech therapists, as well as underwent rehabilitation courses. However, despite all efforts, improvements were minimal. By the age of six, her speech comprehension had improved somewhat, bringing it closer to normal. Irina has significant challenges in social and communication skills. She struggles to communicate and interact with other children, preferring to spend time alone. She understands speech addressed to her primarily at a casual level. At the age of four, Irina underwent an extensive genetic analysis of her autism spectrum disorder, which revealed no abnormalities. In May 2024, after an examination at Pichugin Hospital, doctors diagnosed Irina with childhood autism and granted her disability status. The effectiveness of various interventions and medication therapy over the past year has been extremely limited. To help Irina make progress in her development, we need a genetic test—complete genome sequencing.
