The tracking system is up and running: subcutaneous chips have been purchased

Helping Hand for Homeless Animals

Fundación Penza

The ‘Pitomets’ shelter often takes in animals with familiar faces — those who were once rescued from the streets or saved from a difficult situation. To ensure that each of these stories doesn’t have to start over from scratch, the shelter microchips every animal in its care, without exception. This tiny device, invisible under the skin, stores all the important information: a unique number, vaccination records, and sterilization status. This data is entered into a federal database and from that moment on, the animal is no longer nameless. If it gets lost, a single scan will help identify it and return it home. If a cat or dog that has already been spayed or neutered is found on the street, it will not be captured again. This is not only convenient but also a fair and humane way to keep track of the animals living among us. Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase a new batch of microchips and keep our work going. All animals that passed through the shelter during this period received their ‘passport’ — one that can never be lost. Thank you for helping us continue this work without interruption!

Información de la colecta

To register homeless animals, we need to purchase subcutaneous microchips!

Sometimes, animals come to our shelter who have already been rescued once. To make sure their stories are never lost, we microchip every one of our shelter residents. A microchip is a tiny device, no larger than a grain of rice. It’s unnoticeable to the animal, but invaluable to the person searching for them — or to the shelter team who can access all the animal’s information when found. A chip is like a passport that can never be lost. It stores data about sterilization and vaccinations. The chip is placed under the skin, causes no discomfort, and lasts a lifetime. Inside it is a unique number that’s registered in a national database along with the animal’s medical and rescue history. If an animal goes missing, scanning the chip helps identify and reunite them with their family. If a street dog or cat turns out to already be sterilized, they won’t be captured again. This is how we maintain a humane, transparent, and modern system for tracking animals in our cities. At our shelter, every animal is microchipped before adoption or release. But our stock of chips is running low — and animals keep arriving. We need your help to buy a new batch and keep this important work going.
