Kumush was born on November 11th and was in critical condition from the very first moment. Her breathing was weak, her body was limp, and doctors noticed signs of hypoxia and impaired circulation. In the delivery room, the baby was immediately given intensive care and placed on respiratory support.
Kumush's first hours of life were difficult: her vital signs were declining, and her heart was working at its limit. She was urgently transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit, where her condition was maintained, but her condition was not completely improved.
An examination revealed a complex congenital heart defect. Kumush has a ruptured aortic arch, a large hole between the ventricles, and a critical narrowing of the pulmonary artery. These organ developmental anomalies impair blood flow and pose a constant threat to her life.
Doctors prescribed a multi-stage surgery: repair of the aortic arch, closure of the hole, and reconstruction of the pulmonary artery with the installation of a biological implant in place of the narrowed portion. Without treatment, the baby's condition is deteriorating due to severe heart failure and the risk of circulatory arrest.
Time is limited. These defects require correction in the coming days, while Kumush still has the resources to undergo complex surgery.
