Usman has successfully undergone his fifth and most crucial operation to correct a complex heart defect. The cardiac surgeons performed a Norwood procedure. They reconstructed the aortic arch and restored the valve’s function. The operation lasted more than seven hours under cardiopulmonary bypass. Usman bravely endured this ordeal.
Following the operation, the boy’s condition has improved significantly, and his agonising shortness of breath has disappeared. Now Usman will be able to gradually regain his strength, put on weight and do what he loves so much – playing with his toys, listening to his family’s voices and discovering the world without pain. He faces a long period of rehabilitation and medication, but the worst is now behind him.
