Avdey was born prematurely. Severe hypoxia suffered postnatally permanently affected his health. Over time, it became clear that his disabilities were severe and irreversible: the boy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and multiple related developmental disorders.
Avdey is now 12 years old. He does not speak, cannot move independently, cannot eat regular food, and is completely dependent on adult assistance. Due to his neurological condition, he has difficulty managing his emotions and interacting with the world around him. While Avdey understands everything at his own level, he is unable to communicate his desires, needs, or well-being.
The communication button is a chance to give Avdey a voice. With it, he can simply press it to communicate to his loved ones what he needs: ask for help, express discomfort, or, conversely, joy. For a child deprived of speech, such a device becomes a vital communication tool and reduces anxiety, both for him and for his parents, who try to understand his condition daily.
Avdey and 11 other children currently need funds to purchase medical and rehabilitation products, as well as small technical aids. For example, one child needs a weighted blanket; it reduces anxiety and helps the body feel stable and secure. Another needs a gastrostomy tube to ensure safe and painless feeding. A third is just learning to drink independently and needs a special adaptive CamoCup: it controls the flow of liquid and helps him take small sips without choking.
