Two years ago, six-year-old Aibijeka from Kyrgyzstan was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Now comes the stage where the family needs our help in this fight!
In August 2019, her parents noticed enlarged lymph nodes on their daughter's neck. They immediately went to the polyclinic, where they were diagnosed with the dreaded diagnosis of Stage 2 Papillary Thyroid Cancer.
The first operation was carried out in Bishkek, partially removing the gland. For further treatment, on doctors' advice, her parents took Aibijke to St. Petersburg. New tests, examinations and an operation during which the thyroid gland with lymph nodes was finally removed.
Unfortunately, the cancer cells had time to spread to her lungs, leading to metastases. The girl developed respiratory failure.
The prescribed radioiodine therapy was unsuccessful. Four courses showed that the cancer cells were immune to radioiodine. To increase sensitivity, the girl needs the drug Lenvantinib. Once the cancer cells begin to respond to the drug, Aibijke will continue radiotherapy to permanently eradicate the cancer. The treatment will be long and expensive, but we can help her through this difficult journey.
Before her illness, she attended kindergarten, where she had many friends. Despite numerous hospitalizations and treatments Ayibijke remains active and cheerful. Her brothers and grandparents are waiting for her back home and she misses them very much! All family members support brave Aibijke.
