Khalid is four years old. The parents noticed a delay in their son's development when he turned one year old: the baby did not speak a word, did not respond to appeals and did not look into his eyes, as if existing in his own closed world. Then a strange feature of his gait appeared — Khalid walked mostly on tiptoe. The family went to the doctors and received treatment, but there were no significant improvements. It was only at the age of two that specialists were able to make the correct diagnosis: delayed speech development (ASD) with signs of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
After the start of regular remedial classes, a long-awaited improvement came: Khalid began to point fingers at objects of interest, respond to his name, reproduce the words he heard (echolalia) and mastered counting to ten.Nevertheless, the problems remain significant: speech is limited to echolamic repetitions, and aggression towards oneself persists. Further recovery requires additional medical intervention and specialized classes, which are necessary to improve the boy's general condition and increase the level of socialization.
But the complexity of the family budget does not allow paying for the necessary medical services.
