Every month, 30 children from orphanages end up in hospitals. They get sick just like children from families, but they are completely alone. Without a mom, without a dad, without someone who could simply hold their hand.
Even adults are scared in the hospital, and children even more so. Doctors do everything necessary, but they don't have time to sit nearby, hug, or comfort.
One little boy was three years old when he was admitted to the hospital at night. Our nanny came into the room — the child was lying there with an IV drip. She spent the whole night with him: stroking his hand, singing lullabies. Towards morning, a miracle happened — he asked for some porridge. For the first time, he trusted someone and felt safe. And upon discharge, he said he would sing lullabies to his friends so they wouldn't be scared.
For 18 years, we have been finding, training, and paying for nannies. Our nannies feed, play, care for the children, and give them something without which recovery is impossible: warmth and a sense of security.
This fundraiser will help us pay for one month of work for two nannies for children alone in the hospital, so that there will be even more stories like this.
