Dima Gilev is a wanted child, he was born in a satisfactory condition, 8/8 points on the Apgar scale, and on the 4th day he was discharged home with his mother. Everything was fine, but in 2 weeks the baby had a rash on his head. Doctors did not set a diagnosis and prescribed treatment at home. After a couple of weeks the temperature rose and one hand began to twitch. After CT scan, spinal puncture and tests the diagnosis was finally set: herpetic meningoencephalitis.
Dima spent 2 months in hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, the boy’s condition was serious. When his condition stabilized, Dima had an MRI scan, which showed that his brain was badly damaged. At the age of 4 months the boy began regular rehabilitation. Dima underwent several courses of massage, exercise therapy and physiotherapy. The boy was also engaged in Vojta therapy and Bobath therapy and had a speech therapy massage. Despite nothing, Dima often smiles and laughs out loud, is interested in toys, loves to listen to children's music, rhymes and fairy tales.
As a result of all efforts, it was possible to reduce the muscle tonus - Dima began to hold his head better, his back muscles got stronger and he began to roll over from side to back. The baby also makes different sounds. In order to make Dima’s life easier and to make trips to rehabilitation more comfortable as well as not to lose the skills and abilities already acquired, the boy needs a wheelchair.
