Feline Leukemia Under Control!

The Pitomets Veterinary Center helps homeless animals with treatment, rehabilitation, adaptation and finding a home. Every week, cats picked up from the street in serious condition arrive here. Among the many diagnoses that the center's staff encounters most frequently is feline leukemia. This disease attacks the animal's immune system, gradually depriving it of the ability to resist even the most common infections. The particular danger of the virus is that in the early stages it causes almost no symptoms. The cat looks healthy while the disease is already destroying the body from within. For stray animals weakened by hunger, cold and stress, this diagnosis becomes a particularly serious challenge. To help these cats, the center's veterinarians use specialized antiviral drugs. They do not cure the disease completely, but they can significantly slow its progression, support the immune system and greatly improve the animal's quality of life. Thanks to these drugs, cats feel better, tolerate co-infections more easily and get a real chance at a long and comfortable life — and therefore at finding a loving home. Without regular treatment, the disease progresses rapidly, and even a few missed days can be costly for the animal. The funds raised will provide the necessary medications for 30 cats over several months. Each of them was picked up from the street by volunteers and brought to the center in the belief that they still have a chance at a better life. Let's support them!
