For many children, summer means playing outdoors and making new friends. But for a child with autism, a regular playground often becomes an insurmountable barrier. While peers run around and play tag, a child with special needs might spend hours simply swinging on a swing. This is not because they are disinterested, but because they don't understand the social rules or know how to express their desire to join the group. The urban summer program at "Zvezdny Dozhd" (Starry Rain) was created to change this narrative. The camp provides children with special needs the opportunity to learn how to interact with others and enjoy playing. Educators create clear and safe environments where children feel calm and confident. They learn to communicate, discover how to make friends, and find ways to have fun together. A shining example of how this works is the story of ten-year-old Misha Dmitriev. Before the camp, the world of his peers was like a closed book to him. Step by step, through group games and professional support, Misha made a real breakthrough. He didn't just learn the rules of playground games; he developed a genuine interest in them. What used to cause confusion has become a clear and manageable activity for him. His greatest victory happened outside the center's walls. Now, in his own courtyard, Misha no longer just watches other boys from the swings. He approaches, observes, and tries to join the game. The program gave him the tools to start building bridges toward other people. The urban camp is completely free for parents, but the educators' work and the upkeep of the facility require funding.
