Rimma Gazizullina began to notice the first symptoms of the disease in 2018, she felt constant weakness and sleepiness. She attributed her condition to the round-the-clock care of her seriously ill mother, and it seemed that a little rest and her well-being would return to normal. But the situation rapidly deteriorated, one November evening she began bleeding, her fever soared, and we had to call an ambulance. Rimma was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. At that moment the cancer cells in her blood test were already 98%.
The doctors immediately began high-dose chemotherapy, and the woman went into remission. To prevent the disease from returning, the decision was made to transplant Rimma with cells from her own bone marrow. This was in August 2019. The transplant was successful, and Rimma, her husband, and daughter breathed peacefully.
Unfortunately, the disease returned a year later. In the summer of 2020, during another bone marrow puncture, doctors were forced to state a relapse. At the medical board, a decision was made to have a bone marrow transplant from a donor. Rimma had no related donors, so now she had to look for a donor on the Russian registry.
The surgery for bone marrow transplantation is paid by the government, but the research, examination of the donor and delivery of the transplant are not covered by the government and the patient and his relatives have to pay for it. The cost of the donation is 426,000 rubles, which is a lot of money Rimma's family does not have. The Leukemia Foundation has only 100,000 rubles left to raise for Rimma to have the operation.
Rimma dreams of doing what she likes, sewing, knitting, drawing, and exhibiting. She has a dream of a full life without fear and worry. And we have the power to help her!
