Rafael has several complex diagnoses; his stomach isn't working properly, and he can't eat on his own. "Doctors, both in Bashkortostan and at federal medical centers, have tried many options to help Rafael's stomach, but nothing works, and the only option for my son is intravenous feeding," says his mother, Olesya. For a year now, the boy has been receiving nutrition through catheters. He's gained good weight, his muscles have become stronger, and his sleep has improved.
