Kausar is 5.5 years old. She has a congenital disorder of the nervous system and hydrocephalus, a condition in which the outflow of cerebrospinal fluid is impaired. To help her body cope, doctors have installed a shunt, a system that drains excess fluid and reduces pressure on the brain.
Kausar is learning to live step by step.
She is happy with what seems ordinary to other children — a new movement, an attempt to stand, the ability to take a step.
She now needs surgery to replace the shunt.
The system is not working properly — the liquid is drained too quickly, and this is dangerous. Doctors insist on a replacement.
Since birth, her condition has been severe. She had her first bypass at two months old. Then there were surgeries and treatment — the system took a long time to select, and now it is failing again.
Despite this, Kausar has learned to hold her head, sit, speak individual words, and take the first steps through effort and treatment.
Now there is a risk of losing it. An operation is required in the near future. Without it, the condition may worsen.
My mother doesn't have the means to pay for it. She's raising four children on her own.
Let's help preserve what is so difficult for Kausar - her movements, her steps, and her childhood.
