Afrouz is only two years old, and Fariza is two and a half. Both girls were born much earlier than expected, and from the very first days of their lives, they faced a severe eye disease. Instead of a peaceful childhood, they were subjected to intensive care, hospital rooms, examinations, and surgeries.
Afrouz is a very affectionate and sensitive girl. She recognizes her mother's voice, smiles at familiar sounds, and carefully explores the world with her hands. Throughout her short life, she has already undergone several complex surgeries in Tashkent and St. Petersburg. Now doctors are waiting for her to come back for treatment again, because the disease continues to threaten residual vision.
Fariza is also going through a difficult path from the first months of life. The girl is brought up by her grandmother, who has become the closest person for her. Despite the fatigue and age, she is with her at every examination and every trip. A new operation is necessary to remove scarring changes inside the eye and to preserve for the child the ability to distinguish light, movement and faces of relatives.
Doctors no longer promise to fully restore vision. But even a small improvement helps children to navigate more confidently, recognize their loved ones, and feel more at ease in the world around them.
Now Afrouz and Fariza need eye surgeries and a flight to St. Petersburg.
Let's support the girls, help them get treatment in time and still see a happy childhood.
