Subiy needs heart surgery

Even whilst still in the maternity ward, Subiy was found to have heart problems. After he was discharged, the diagnosis was confirmed: a congenital heart defect. It was then that the family first heard that their child might need an operation. From that day on, worry for his health became a constant part of their lives. As a child, Subiy was very restless. His mum tried not to let him cry unnecessarily, because she was worried about his heart. Subiy is now in Year 8. He makes friends easily and is keen on fishing and motorbikes. Subiy dreams of being just as active as his peers and playing sport, but doctors have forbidden any strenuous physical activity. Recent tests have shown a deterioration in his heart function. To ensure it works properly, doctors recommend surgery to fit a prosthetic valve. His parents cannot afford to pay for this treatment themselves.
