Daniil is seventeen. He lives in Vladimir, has completed ten classes and dreams of studying to become a cook. The boy was born in the eighth month. The birth was difficult: the baby did not breathe, and he was kept on a ventilator for two days. Doctors conducted a genetic examination and found a rare disease - hypomelanosis of Ito, and with it hemimegalencephaly of the left hemisphere. In simple terms - a brain malformation that causes seizures that are not amenable to medication. At the age of 14, Daniil underwent a complex neurosurgical operation at the Burdenko Center in Moscow. The main goal was achieved: since February 2023, he has not had any seizures. However, the consequences are severe, as the right side of his body is almost completely paralyzed. Daniil is now confined to a wheelchair. Doctors recommend using a standing support with his legs spread apart. This will allow Daniil to stand and move around.
