Timur will soon turn 18, but he looks nothing like his age. Timur has suffered from severe disabilities since birth: tetraparesis, scoliosis, muscle contractures, and epilepsy.
Timur can't sit up, can't move his arms or legs, is fed only with special formulas through a gastrostomy tube, and breathes through a tracheostomy. Timur and his mother currently spend almost all their time in the hospital or hospice in Ufa, although the family lives more than two hours from the capital, in the small town of Meleuz. In July, Timur will turn 18 and will no longer be able to receive palliative care at the Ufa Children's Hospital.
"Timur is completely dependent on oxygen, and we desperately need help purchasing a portable oxygen concentrator. If we're transported around Ufa in oxygen-equipped vehicles, we won't be able to return to Meleuz without one. And we won't be able to travel to the hospitals there without one," says Timur's mother.
The family can't afford the expensive concentrator themselves, so we're starting a fundraiser and asking for your support.
