16-year–old Balighto has osteogenesis imperfecta, the bones of such children are so fragile that they can break from a banal sneeze. One leg is broken at the hip joint, and the boy is now walking on crutches. But the operation will put him back on his feet. If it is not done, someone will eventually get into a wheelchair.
Balighto was born with two broken collarbones. The little finger, the middle toe, the ribs, even the skull – not to mention the arms and legs: Someone has already broken 55 times in his life!
And the last fracture of the femoral neck, which fused incorrectly, and soon the bone simply began to dissolve. Nobody leans on this leg at all. In order not to sit in a wheelchair forever, in order to restore mobility to the leg, surgery is needed – strengthening the femur and joint with the help of metal structures. As soon as movement appears in the joint, its resorption stops and independent recovery begins, and Balighto will be able to walk on two legs again, return to the school he misses so much, and hope that his dream of going to St. Petersburg and becoming an English translator will come true.
