Abdurrahim has a very calm temperament. He loves looking at his mum, smiles at his brother and sister, and reaches out for brightly coloured toys. He seems like a perfectly normal, curious little boy, but his heart has not been working properly since he was born.
When Abdurrahim was just one month old, his parents noticed that his lips and skin were turning blue, and his breathing had become laboured and rapid. Tests confirmed a severe congenital heart defect.
In January, Abdurrahim underwent surgery. The doctors performed the first stage of a complex corrective procedure. The boy’s condition improved noticeably; his shortness of breath lessened and his skin regained its pink colour.
But the treatment is not yet complete. Due to his complex heart defect, Abdurrahim needs to undergo a second, crucial operation as soon as possible.
The boy’s family travelled to Russia from Tajikistan to save their son. Here, cardiac surgeons are giving a positive prognosis. However, treatment for foreign nationals is fee-based, and his parents cannot afford it. All their funds have been spent on the first operation and rehabilitation.
Abdurrahim has a chance to grow up to be an active and healthy child. But for this to happen, the next operation must be carried out in time. Let’s help Abdurrahim beat his illness!
