Evrim was born at 28 weeks of pregnancy, tiny — just over a kilogram. Right after birth the baby was taken to an intensive care unit. Months among special medical devices and monitors, blood transfusions, endless doctors. To survive with such a weight was a miracle. But when Evrim was finally discharged, ordinary motherhood did not happen. Hospitals, examinations and rehabilitation began.
At 1 year old the girl was officially registered as disabled. Today she lives with a list of diagnoses: Cerebral Palsy, spastic tetraparesis, severe psychomotor development delay, strabismus and astigmatism. Even though Evrim is already 3 years old, her development is that of a 1-year-old child. She can only sit with support, does not crawl, does not walk, and only stands with the help of adults.
Evrim needs ongoing rehabilitation: physical therapy, massages, a neuropsychologist, exercise equipment and Vojta and Bobath methods. Every new skill for this little girl is a huge victory. What comes naturally to other children requires months of work for Evrim. Let's all together help Evrim so that she could learn to sit without support, crawl, take her first steps and become more independent!
