Valya is an orphan; she has lived in a boarding school since she was five. Our Foundation met her over three years ago. We helped Valya come to Moscow for treatment for her illness. Since then, she has undergone four complex surgeries. After each one, Valya returns to the Foundation's Social Center, which has become her true home.
Due to her illness, Valya was practically immobile for many years. But now, from a skinny girl, she has grown into a cheerful, smiling young woman. In May, she celebrated her seventeenth birthday at "Domik" (Little House)—surrounded by friends, her beloved nanny, and the Foundation's staff, who have supported her all these years.
Everything here is permeated with warmth: each child has their own bed linen—with a unicorn, a blue tractor, or, like Valya's, Marie Crimebrery.
"Children are all different, and we want each one to have something personal, just like home," says Daria Sudakova, head of the "Available Help" program.
Because of children's health issues, linens are washed more frequently, and they wear out faster. Now is the time to update bedding, pillows, and blankets. Help us ensure that every child at the social center sleeps like they would at home—clean, warm, and comfortable.
