Bohdan is 12 years old, and he spent five of those years living in an orphanage in the Kherson region. He has complex movement disorders: he uses a walker, and every step is difficult. But Bohdan doesn't give up: he dreams of learning to walk, finishing school, learning a profession, and becoming independent.
In April, our team brought him to Moscow for treatment. He will undergo several complex surgeries. The first was in June, to repair his deformed feet.
"Bohdan is very hardworking," says Daria, the foundation's coordinator. "On the second day after the surgery, he said, 'I'm ready to start exercising now, so I can get going faster.' I'm glad nothing can dampen his spirits!"
Between hospitalizations, Bohdan lives at the foundation's Social Center with 12 other orphans who came from different regions of the country for treatment. The staff and children call him "Domik." The children receive weekly sessions with a speech therapist and physical therapy specialist, and nannies are available 24/7, creating a warm and safe atmosphere with their care.
