Salim is three, he has been fighting leukemia for the second year.
"I'm big now and I won't cry," he tells his mom during painful procedures.
Salim is currently on a supportive course of chemotherapy and comes to the hospital once a week. After an IV drip, recovery takes 3-4 days, blood counts drop, there is no energy for games, you have to be at home. But when Salim gets better, he enjoys going out for a walk with his younger sister Sofia. Salim also really enjoys riding a scooter, but he gets tired quickly. The child's body is weakened by a serious illness.
Treatment is not easy: aggressive "chemistry" caused kidney complications, stones appeared, and the baby had several urological surgeries. Salim's condition is stable now, and the boy has every chance of overcoming leukemia, but it is important to continue treatment. There's another block of chemotherapy ahead, which parents can't afford to pay for.
Dad works as a taxi driver, leaves early in the morning, comes in late at night. But the money earned is barely enough for the most basic necessities.
