Sabina received another rehabilitative treatment!

Sabina's family had been dreaming of having a child for a long time. But the miracle only happened after six long years of marriage. Her mother's pregnancy was very difficult. From 24 weeks onwards there was a constant threat of preterm birth. Mum spent two months in different hospitals where she was monitored at the maternity ward. But eventually her pregnancy lasted only up to 32 weeks. Sabina was born prematurely in Moscow on 14 June 2018 at 32 weeks weighing 2180 grams. After her birth, Sabina could not breathe on her own and was on a mechanical ventilation for a month and a half. On the third day after delivery, there was a brain haemorrhage. The doctors said that the baby would not survive, and if she did, she would be disabled. Sabina was in hospital for three months: first in the intensive care unit, then in the neonatal unit. She was discharged home without any prognosis for her further development. Diagnoses piled up like a snowball: hydrocephalus (a shunt was installed), organic affection of CNS, partial optic atrophy, strabismus, nystagmus, epi-activity, heart defect, cerebral palsy... Sabina underwent 8 operations at the moment. Five of them are on the brain. Hydrocephalus damaged the visual pathways, which transmit signals of what the eyes see to the brain. Almost immediately after she was born, Sabina had convergent strabismus. Now Sabina is 3 years old and a huge fighter. She is a wonderful girl with enormous willpower and drive for life. The family is doing all they can for her. In specialised medical centres Sabina undergoes AFC-therapy, physical therapy, massage, logopaedic probing massage. Her parents do a lot of work with her at home by themselves. Every 3 months Sabina undergoes stimulation of optic nerve in specialized clinics. There are good results. Despite all the diagnoses, Sabina is developing, but with a delay. After Vojta therapy course she began to turn over, and after several courses of physical therapy she sat up and crawled, then stood on her feet. Then she walked. Due to constant training and rehabilitation, the child changes before our eyes. Sabina is walking, running and speaking in sentences. But it is impossible to stop. Because time is working against Sabina. What normotypical children are given by nature, all the skills that come from birth, a special child has to achieve only by daily lessons, with a lot of hard work and incredible patience. Sabina will undergo examinations, doctor`s consultation and treatment in the Medical centre of Rehabilitation Centre "Akademik" in Moscow with the total sum of 202 thousand rubles for the following year. This week the girl will undergo one more procedure under the annual medical programme and her mother will need 24 thousand roubles. The family coped with this problem on their own, but their financial possibilities of parents have exhausted completely, and now they are in very difficult financial situation and they have to ask for help from us.
