Erbol was born to his mother Zamira in Moscow on January 29, 2008 at 28 weeks weighing 1840 grams.
Due to the premature birth Erbol has been under the care of a neurologist and an ophthalmologist since his first year of life. After retinopathy of prematurity, Erbol's vision dropped to -12. He is now in the 8th grade at a public school for the visually impaired with excellent vision.
In addition to severe myopia, his quality of life is greatly reduced by strabismus and nystagmus - involuntary oscillatory eye movements. Doctors strongly recommend the boy to have an operation, there are no other ways to cure nystagmus and strabismus.
Erbol also has a 4-year-old sister Elvira. She was born prematurely at 31 weeks weighing 1850g. The girl has a disability due to cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Her vision is very bad (partial atrophy of optic nerve, hyperopia, myopia, convergent strabismus, nystagmus), and she needs an eye surgery too.
It so happened that the doctors planned the first stage of Erbol and Elvira's surgery on the same day, on December 21! The surgery will remove both strabismus and nystagmus.
The total sum of money spent by the clinic for treatment of both children's eyes exceeds 400 000 roubles. The children's mother Zamira and father Mars find this sum unaffordable. This is why the family had to ask us for help.
