Thanks to all of you, Barsbeck had surgery on both eyes at the end of January 2021. This surgery will keep him partially sighted. "We were very happy that after the surgery our son will not have total blindness, but at least light vision. He will be able to see about 10%, which will allow him to be independent as he ages, to be able to take care of himself. We believe that he will have a wonderful, bright future. We are grateful to everyone who gave us a helping hand at a difficult time!" - says Barsbek's mother. Thank you, dear Toobers, for taking part in this gathering - you gave Barsbek a chance at a new life!

Barsbek needs an eye surgery to save his vision!

Barsbek was born much prematurely in Bishkek. Because of this, he was in hospital for a long time. Around the 20th day after her son was born, his mother noticed that his eyes had become cloudy. "I asked the doctors what this was about and I was told that premature babies can have eye problems, but it was not explained that there was such a dangerous diagnosis - retinopathy of prematurity. If I had known about it, I would have started looking for information right away. But I didn't think it was that serious," Barsbek's mother tells us. There was no ophthalmologist at the maternity hospital. A month after discharge, she could go to the local children's hospital. But the baby was not seen there due to quarantine in the ward. The private clinic did not tell her about the dangerous diagnosis either. So precious time was lost. Barsbek's mother again went to the children's hospital, but the doctors worked in the "red zone" and were unavailable. When one doctor was finally able to examine Barsbek's eyes, the boy had already developed retinopathy of prematurity. The baby was referred for emergency surgery in Almaty. But the tests and documents required for hospitalisation took another week, after which the control ultrasound scan showed already the 4th-5th stage of retinopathy. Which means almost total blindness... "It was too painful for us to hear that, we were in terrible shock!" - says the mother. It is good that relatives in Moscow have found contacts of a good eye doctor at the Russian Children Clinical Hospital (RCCHO). In Russia Barsbek will be able to undergo an operation which, even in his serious condition, will save at least partial vision. "We were very happy that after the operation Barsbek will not be completely blind, but will at least have some light perception. He will be able to see about 10%, which will allow him to be independent as he gets older, to be able to look after himself. We really hope that our son will have healthy eyes! And we believe he will have a beautiful, bright future. We are grateful to everyone who gave us a helping hand at a difficult moment." But they are only one step away from happiness: As for all CIS-citizens, Barsbek's operation in Moscow will have to be paid for. The surgery will be held in the end of January. Barsbek's family needs our help to make the operation happen on time! In fact, the family cannot afford the amount of 257,000 roubles...
